How we started
Cooper's R/C Race Center is located in Callands Va, nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at 4000 Sago Road. It is owned and operated by Norris and Pat Cooper. As the story goes Norris went off with his buddies one weekend and brought home an R/C car. Pat thought he had lost his mind and had reverted to his second childhood. He then used an old country store as a hobby shop and built an outdoor dirt oval track between the store and a cementary. In 1986 he began construction on the current facility that the business is operated in and completed it in 1987. Coopers R/C Racecenter has won much praise and accolades in the R/C world and has hosted 5 National Championships. The U S Open Wheel Championships sponsored by Custom Works have been held here from 2002-2006.Each year it gets bigger. In 2006 nine classes were run with over 400 entries. People came from 21 states, 2 brothers from Canada and one man from China. It has over 150 indoor pits and each pit has electricity and stools.
